gail hoganI’ve always thought that living in Ohio brought me the best of both worlds. I can enjoy the urban life of big cities like Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati, and the wonderful countryside and farming communities of rural Ohio. Rarely do we think about how these two worlds are tied together. That’s what is so special about Our Ohio. We want to cultivate those partnerships between the farmer and each and every Ohioan, to share the best our state has to offer. I’ve lived in Ohio all my life. I grew up in Toledo, and moved to Columbus in 1980. Along the way I attended the University of Toledo, majored in broadcast journalism, and began my career with a job at a “rural” radio station in Oregon, Ohio. After moving to Columbus I worked at several radio and television stations, most recently at NBC 4, where I worked as an evening news anchor. I also met my husband, Dan, in Columbus. Dan is a Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge and we have three children, Conor, Kelly and Meggie. Dan is the gardener in our family. He’s transformed a large part of our backyard into his pepper garden. He grows hot pepper plants, from seeds, and is very proud of his bountiful harvest. Then he goes through the canning process to produce “Hogan’s Hungarian Hots” which become everyone’s Christmas gift! While Dan is the one in the family with the green thumb, the rest of us get to enjoy his efforts. We all get to enjoy the efforts of Ohio farmers and producers. Let Our Ohio be your guide to great people, places and products in our state. I’m excited to be part of the fun! Download a high-resolution photo of Gail Hogan
