Dr. Don SandersDon Sanders grew up on a general livestock and dairy farm at Waynesfield, Ohio. He graduated from Waynesfield-Goshen High School in 1961 and was recently recognized as a distinguished alumnus. He received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ohio State University in 1968. While in veterinary training he met his future wife and ultimately veterinary practice partner, Dr. Judy Sanders. They established a veterinary practice in Urbana, Ohio in the fall of 1968. Within five years they had constructed an award-winning veterinary hospital, the Urbana Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Sanders through an advanced training program in reproduction became a board-certified Theriogenologist (reproductive specialist) in 1981. Theriogenologists number approximately 325 world wide. He was only one of 25 to obtain this certification while maintaining a full-time veterinary practice load. He was a columnist of Dairy Today magazine in the 1980s. Today Dr. Sanders has authored more than 50 scientific papers, four technical books on dairy cattle management and one on swine production with a soon to be released book of stories about life as a veterinarian. Several of his books have sections that have been converted to DVDs as training resources in technical agricultural programs. He also is a frequent contributor to several breed and livestock magazines. He is in wide demand for consultation and as a speaker throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. His latest consulting trip has taken him to China and Japan. His dairy management reference book, “Milk Them for All Their Worth!” was recently translated into Japanese which resulted in a book-signing tour throughout Japan. The Doctor Sanders are parents of three children and have one grandchild. Active in church activities, Dr. Don attends the Urbana United Methodist Church in Urbana. To contact Doc, click here.
