meet ohio dairy farmersTo help educate Ohio students about modern dairy farming, the American Dairy Association Mideast has developed “Down on the Farm,” a new video tailored to elementary school students and designed to be used in the classroom. Ohio teachers also can find complementary education materials to use with the video on the new “Kids & Teachers” Web page on www.ohiodairyfarmers.com. “Down on the Farm” is four minutes of fun and facts that teaches students about where milk and dairy foods come from, how dairy farmers care for their cows and their land, and how milk gets from the dairy farm to kitchen tables and school cafeterias. Though there are more than 3,300 dairy farms and 276,000 cows in Ohio, elementary school students may not know that many of their favorite dairy foods are made right here in our state. The “Down on the Farm” video and “Kids & Teachers” Web page are the latest additions to the Ohio Dairy Producers Association and the American Dairy Association’s ongoing “Meet Ohio Dairy Farmers” campaign. The campaign, which features three commercials that aired throughout Ohio in June and August this year, a long-form video, and www.ohiodairyfarmers.com, highlights the real life-stories of Ohio dairy farmers and explains the steps they take to ensure responsible animal care, environmental stewardship, and safe, affordable food. To see the new Web page and watch “Down on the Farm”, visit www.ohiodairyfarmers.com and click on the “Kids & Teachers” tab.
