The Preble County Farm Bureau would like to invite the public to attend its Grow it. Make it. Know it. series starting March 13. This four-part series will teach you how to stretch your budget by gardening, canning and freezing, sewing and making special homemade gifts for Christmas.
The first in the series is Gardening 101 on March 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Educational Service Center in Eaton. We want to help you prepare your land, teach you how to start seeds and when to plant them. The second in the series is canning and freezing 101 on May 15 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton. This part of the series will take you from the garden to your kitchen and teach you the different types of canning, canning tools and a demonstration of the canning process. We will also be discussing how to freeze fruits and vegetables and how to prepare them. We will also go over what fruits and vegetables are better canned or frozen.
The third part in the series is Sewing and Fibers on Sept. 11 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton. This series will teach you some of the lost arts of sewing and fibers. We will have breakout sessions where you will learn to knit, crochet, quilt or learn the basics of sewing.
