show 308Serpent Mound Serpent Mound is a massive earthwork depicting an uncoiling serpent and is the largest and finest effigy mound in the United States. Spanning nearly 1,300 feet in length, it is thought to be constructed by the Fort Ancient culture more than 1,000 years ago. Today, it is a National Historic Landmark. The Learning Tree Farm In April 1973, classroom teachers who were concerned about how "out of touch" their students were with the outdoors founded The Learning Tree Farm. It has been serving school children and their families in the Dayton/Miami Valley area, growing from about 200 students in 1973 to more than 6,000 in 2006.
